Methodology
How We Research
Bestseller Finder guides are built around a specific buying decision, not a keyword. We identify what the shopper needs to know, compare meaningful alternatives, score them on a value–quality matrix, and explain tradeoffs in plain language.
Verified specs
Manufacturer documentation and current listings — not fabricated testing claims.
Published criteria
Every category has weighted selection standards applied before we recommend.
Editorial independence
Affiliate commissions never determine rankings or award labels.
Our research process
Every guide follows the same six-step pipeline — from defining the buying decision to publishing scored recommendations with sources.
Define the real buying decision
We start with the question a shopper is actually trying to answer — not a keyword volume target.
For air fryers, that means capacity for your household, basket format, and counter space — not a generic “best air fryer” list.
Map meaningful alternatives
We compare products that solve the same problem in different ways, not every SKU on Amazon.
Single-basket vs dual-basket, compact vs family-size, value picks vs premium upgrades — each category gets distinct contenders.
Deep spec and documentation review
We verify capacity, dimensions, materials, and features against manufacturer docs and current listings.
Quart ratings, basket shape, dishwasher-safe parts, wattage, and footprint are checked before a product enters our matrix.
Score on the value–quality matrix
Every finalist is plotted on real-world fit and price-to-performance — not marketing claims.
Products must clear minimum quality bars for daily use. Value picks still have to meet capacity and cleanup standards.
Explain tradeoffs in plain language
We tell you what each pick is best for, what it sacrifices, and who should skip it.
No product is perfect for everyone. Our guides name the tradeoff so you can choose for your household.
Publish with sources and update dates
Recommendations link to verifiable specs. We disclose when we have not physically tested a product.
Affiliate commissions never determine rankings. Selection criteria are published and applied consistently.
Value × quality matrix
Finalists are scored on real-world fit (quality) and price-to-performance (value). Only products that clear our minimum bar get a recommendation — and each award maps to a quadrant.
Worth the Upgrade
Premium price for a specific advantage — dual baskets, larger capacity, faster crisping.
Best Overall
High quality and strong value — our default recommendation for most buyers.
Below Our Bar
We do not recommend. Fails minimum capacity, usability, or value thresholds.
Best Value
Meets quality bars at a lower price. Smart pick when extras are not worth it.

Scores are editorial assessments based on verified specs, documentation, and category-specific selection criteria — not customer review averages.

What we do not do
- Publish thin listicles or keyword permutations without real decision support.
- Claim physical testing unless it is documented for that specific product.
- Fabricate ratings, prices, review counts, or sources.
- Let affiliate revenue change the order of our recommendations.
When we have not physically tested a product, we say so. Our scores reflect editorial judgment against published criteria — the same framework illustrated in our air fryer guide.
